نظر آتے نہیں ہیں بحر میں ہم

نظر آتے نہیں ہیں بحر میں ہم

یعنی رہتے ہیں اپنی لہر میں ہم

کھل رہے ہیں بندھے ہوئے پل سے

گھل رہے ہیں خود اپنے زہر میں ہم

ہے قفس بھی طلسم خانۂ خواب

آ گئے ایک اور شہر میں ہم

کسی زنداں میں سوچنا ہے عبث

دہر ہم میں ہے یا کہ دہر میں ہم

ہو گئی رات سو لیں کچھ سردار

جاگ اٹھیں گے پچھلے پہر میں ہم

ہم ہیں مقتل میں اور قاتل غم

کیسے لائے گئے تھے قہر میں ہم

اب جگائے گی یاد اس کی ظفرؔ

چھوڑ آئے جو نیند نہر میں ہم
