بنیاد جہاں میں کجی کیوں ہے

ہر شے میں کسی کی کمی کیوں ہے

کیوں چہرۂ خار شگفتہ ہے

اور شاخ گلاب جھکی کیوں ہے

وہ وصل کا دن کیوں چھوٹا تھا

یہ ہجر کی رات بڑی کیوں ہے

جس بات سے دل میں ہلچل ہے

وہ بات لبوں پہ رکی کیوں ہے

مت دیکھ کہ کون ہے پروانہ

یہ سوچ کہ شمع جلی کیوں ہے

نہ تھے خواب تو آنسو ہی ہوتے

مرا کاسۂ چشم تہی کیوں ہے
