چاہت کی لو کو مدھم کر دیتا ہے

ڈر جاتا ہے ملنا کم کر دیتا ہے

جلدی اچھے ہو جانے کا جذبہ بھی

زخموں کو وقف مرحم کر دیتا ہے

موت تو پھر بھی اپنے وقت پہ آتی ہے

موت کا آدھا کام تو غم کر دیتا ہے

سو غزلیں ہوتی ہیں اور مر جاتی ہیں

اک مصرع تاریخ رقم کر دیتا ہے

دل میں ایسے دکھ نے ڈیرا ڈالا ہے

ایسا دکھ جو آنکھیں نم کر دیتا ہے

صبر کا دامن ہاتھوں سے مت جانے دو

صبر دلوں کی وحشت کم کر دیتا ہے
