دن کہاں پہلے سے اب رات کہاں پہلی سی

جذبۂ شوق میں وہ بات کہاں پہلی سی

وقت ہر شئے کے خد و خال بدل دیتا ہے

میں زبوں حال، مری ذات کہاں پہلی سی

جس کے آنے سے زمیں دل کی مہک اٹھتی تھی

اب برستی ہے وہ برسات کہاں پہلی سی

میری پہچان وہی، نام وہی، میں بھی وہی

گو کہ سب کچھ ہے وہی بات کہاں پہلی سی

ایک ہی تھالی میں کھاتے تھے کبھی شاہ و گدا

آج دنیا میں مساوات کہاں پہلی سی

یوں تو چھاتی ہے گھٹا دل کے فلک پر لیکن

ہوتی ہے بارشِ نغمات کہاں پہلی سی

میلاسوچوں کا لگا رہتا ہے شاؔد آنکھوں میں

نیند آتی ہے اکسمات کہاں پہلی سی
