بہتا دریا ہوں سمندر میں اتر جانے دے،

ڈاکٹر ظہیر احمد

بہتا دریا ہوں سمندر میں اتر جانے دے،

پھر سے لوٹ آؤنگا بس بھاپ تو بن جانے دے-

تاج اور تخت کسی کے بھی وفادار نہیں،

میں تو تاریخ ہوں اوراق میں بس جانے دے.

لوگ ہر دور میں آتے ہیں چلے جاتے ہیں،

میں محبّت ہوں، کوئی تاج تو بن جانے دے.

تھک گیا ہوں میں کڈی دھوپ میں چلتے-چلتے،

اب تو زلفوں کی گھنی چھانو میں سو جانے دے-

ہے ہوا تیز سفینے بھی لرزتے ہیں زوہیر،

بادباں روک یہ طوفان ہے اسے آنے دے -

آ بھی جا عمرکے موسم سے محبّت کر لیں،

خوشبوؤں کو بھی میری نیند میں بس جانے دیں-
