میں نے بھی عشق لڑایا تھا، لڑ نہیں سکا

میں نے بھی عشق لڑایا تھا، لڑ نہیں سکا

جس شخص کو تلاشا تھا، پا نہیں سکا

عجب حیرت میں تلملایا تھا، محرم بنا نہیں سکا

دلی جذبات کو تازگی تھی بخشی، مرحوم بنا نہیں سکا

تھے سبھی پرندے قفس رنجش میں ملبوس

رکھے تھے جتنے بھی قفل میں، اڑھا نہیں سکا

صبح کی پھوٹ سے آسماں، رنگنیت بکھیر نہیں سکا

جتنی بھی کرنیں بقیہ تھیں، نگئہ جاوداں کر نہیں سکا

تمام تر سوچیں تھیں شوخ و چنچل، سلجھا نہیں سکا

ارے واہ! میں بھی کس قدر بضد تھا، بتلا نہیں سکا

معمالہ کچھ عہد وفا کی حساسیت سے ڈگمگا نہیں سکا

تڑپ کی ازل فارغ گھڑی سے، لمحہ تا شب گزر نہیں سکا

تھا اتنا بے مسکن شاہ! تمنا آرزو لاحاصل کر نہیں سکا

رنجش نے تھا گھیرا ہوا، وگرنہ میں بھی کیا کچھ کر نہیں سکا
