میں اپنی داستانِ زندگی سُنا رہا تھا

تمہارے شہر کا ہر شخص بڑبڑا رہا تھا

میں پچھلے سال کئی سال بعد گزرا تو

وہ ایک راستہ کہ اب بھی مسکرا رہا تھا

میں کم سنی میں اسے کہہ نہیں سکا اور اب

میرا شعور ہی میرا گلا دبا رہا تھا

سنا ہے اک دفعہ وہ مجھ سے ملنے آیا تھا

میں اس کو اس کی ہی نشانیاں بتا رہا تھا

یہ پہلی بار ہے کہ زخم تلملا رہے تھے

یہ پہلی بار ہے کہ درد بلبلا رہا تھا

مقامِ ہجر تھا، ٹھہر ٹھہر کے پڑھنا تھا

یہیں تو داستاں کہنے کا لطف آ رہا تھا

ذکیؔ میں جانتا ہوں مری بینائی کیسے گئی

میں اس کو دُور تک جاتے بھی دیکھتا رہا تھا
