میری اک چھوٹی سی کوشش تجھ کو پانے کے لیے

بن گئی ہے مسئلہ سارے زمانے کے لیے

ریت میری عمر میں بچہ نرالے میرے کھیل

میں نے دیواریں اٹھائی ہیں گرانے کے لیے

وقت ہونٹوں سے مرے وہ بھی کھرچ کر لے گیا

اک تبسم جو تھا دنیا کو دکھانے کے لیے

آسماں ایسا بھی کیا خطرہ تھا دل کی آگ سے

اتنی بارش ایک شعلے کو بجھانے کے لیے

چھت ٹپکتی تھی اگرچہ پھر بھی آ جاتی تھی نیند

میں نئے گھر میں بہت رویا پرانے کے لیے

دیر تک ہنستا رہا ان پر ہمارا بچپنا

تجربے آئے تھے سنجیدہ بنانے کے لیے

میں ظفرؔ تا زندگی بکتا رہا پردیس میں

اپنی گھر والی کو اک کنگن دلانے کے لیے
