زندگی کو شعبدہ سمجھا تھا میں

پتھروں کو آئنہ سمجھا تھا میں

دھوپ کی یورش تھی ہر اک سمت سے

سایۂ دیوار سے لپٹا تھا میں

آئینے ہی آئینے تھے ہر طرف

پھر بھی اپنے آپ میں تنہا تھا میں

حادثوں سے کھیلنے کے باوجود

آج بھی ویسا ہوں کل جیسا تھا میں

روز زخمی ہوتا تھا میرا بدن

پتھروں کے شہر میں رہتا تھا میں

عمر بھر اپنے تعاقب میں ظفرؔ

اپنے ہی سائے سے بس الجھا تھا میں
