بس ایک بار کسی نے گلے لگایا تھا

پھر اس کے بعد نہ میں تھا نہ میرا سایا تھا

گلی میں لوگ بھی تھے میرے اس کے دشمن لوگ

وہ سب پہ ہنستا ہوا میرے دل میں آیا تھا

اس ایک دشت میں سو شہر ہو گئے آباد

جہاں کسی نے کبھی کارواں لٹایا تھا

وہ مجھ سے اپنا پتا پوچھنے کو آ نکلے

کہ جن سے میں نے خود اپنا سراغ پایا تھا

مرے وجود سے گلزار ہو کے نکلی ہے

وہ آگ جس نے ترا پیرہن جلایا تھا

مجھی کو طعنۂ غارت گری نہ دے پیارے

یہ نقش میں نے ترے ہاتھ سے مٹایا تھا

اسی نے روپ بدل کر جگا دیا آخر

جو زہر مجھ پہ کبھی نیند بن کے چھایا تھا

ظفرؔ کی خاک میں ہے کس کی حسرت تعمیر

خیال و خواب میں کس نے یہ گھر بنایا تھا
