لہر کی طرح کنارے سے اچھل جانا ہے

دیکھتے دیکھتے ہاتھوں سے نکل جانا ہے

دوپہر وہ ہے کہ ہوتی نظر آتی ہی نہیں

دن ہمارا تو بہت پہلے ہی ڈھل جانا ہے

جی ہمارا بھی یہاں اب نہیں لگتا اتنا

آج اگر روک لیے جائیں تو کل جانا ہے

دل میں کھلتا ہوا اک آخری خواہش کا یہ پھول

جاتے جاتے اسے خود میں نے مسل جانا ہے

جو یہاں خود ہی لگا رکھی ہے چاروں جانب

ایک دن ہم نے اسی آگ میں جل جانا ہے

چلتی رکتی ہوئی یہ حسن بھی ہے ایک ہوا

موسم عشق بھی اک روز بدل جانا ہے

جیسے گھٹی میں کوئی خوف پڑا ہو اس کی

بات بے بات ہی اس دل نے دہل جانا ہے

اور تو ہونی ہے کیا اپنی وصولی اس سے

منہ پہ کالک یہ ملاقات کی مل جانا ہے

میں بھی کچھ دیر سے بیٹھا ہوں نشانے پہ ظفرؔ

اور وہ کھینچا ہوا تیر بھی چل جانا ہے
