ظفرؔ فسانوں کہ داستانوں میں رہ گئے ہیں

ہم اپنے گزرے ہوئے زمانوں میں رہ گئے ہیں

عجب نہیں ہے کہ خود ہوا کے سپرد کر دیں

یہ چند تنکے جو آشیانوں میں رہ گئے ہیں

مکین سب کوچ کر گئے ہیں کسی طرف کو

اب ان کے آثار ہی مکانوں میں رہ گئے ہیں

سنا کرو صبح و شام کڑوی کسیلی باتیں

کہ اب یہی ذائقے زبانوں میں رہ گئے ہیں

پسند آئی ہے اس قدر خاطر و تواضع

جو میہماں سارے میزبانوں میں رہ گئے ہیں

ہمیں ہی شو کیس میں سجا کر رکھا گیا تھا

بڑے ہمیں شہر کی دکانوں میں رہ گئے ہیں

ابھی یہی انقلاب آیا ہے رفتہ رفتہ

جو رونے والے تھے ناچ گانوں میں رہ گئے ہیں

الگ الگ اپنا اپنا پرچم اٹھا رکھا ہے

کہ ہم قبیلوں نہ خاندانوں میں رہ گئے ہیں

ظفرؔ زمیں زاد تھے زمیں سے ہی کام رکھا

جو آسمانی تھے آسمانوں میں رہ گئے ہیں
