واں طبیعت دم تقریر بگڑ جاتی ہے

بات کی بات میں توقیر بگڑ جاتی ہے

چونک پڑتا ہوں خوشی سے جو وہ آ جاتے ہیں

خواب میں خواب کی تعبیر بگڑ جاتی ہے

کچھ وہ پڑھنے میں الجھتے ہیں مرا نامۂ شوق

کچھ عبارت دم تحریر بگڑ جاتی ہے

چارہ گر کیا مری وحشت سے جنوں بھی ہے بتنگ

روز مجھ سے مری زنجیر بگڑ جاتی ہے

داغ الفت وہ بری شے ہے کہ کہنے سے ظہیرؔ

مہر و مہتاب کی تنویر بگڑ جاتی ہے
