How To Join Pakistan Army through PMA Long Course?

Here is how you can join Pakistan Army as a Commissioned Officer:

Eligibility Criteria For PMA Long Course

The required qualification is as follows:

• Intermediate (FA/ FSc or Equivalent) with minimum 60 % marks
• Graduates with 4 years program (BS / BA (Hon) / BBA /BPA). Candidates who secure 60% marks or above in their graduation, with 50% marks in Intermediate are eligible for PMA Long Course
• Serving Army Soldiers should have 50% marks in FA/FSc or equivalent.
• A level candidates applying in Pakistan with aggregate 60% marks are eligible without seeking equivalence certificate. But if they are applying from abroad or have three Cs, they are required to submit equivalence certificate.

The candidate should be a male and unmarried.  The candidate can be married if he is serving personnel of the Armed Forces over 20 years of age.

Females do not need to feel disappointed as females can join Pak army as a female nursing service and through the Lady Cadet Course.

Age Limit

The age limit for PMA Long Course 2020 is as follows:

• Candidates with an Intermediate degree should be in the age bracket of 17-22 years
• Graduates with 2 years degree should be around 17-23 years
• Graduates with 4 years degree should have an age of 17-24 years
• Serving Army Soldiers should be around 17-25 years

Both Intermediate and 2 years Graduates have an Age Relaxation for three months both in upper and lower age limits. Meanwhile, there is no age relaxation for 4 year degree holders and serving army soldiers.

Selection Procedure:

The candidate will pass through a series of testing to assess his capabilities. All of the tests are mentioned below:

1. The Written Test

The written test of PMA Long Course would include questions on:

• Mathematics
• English
• Pakistan Studies
• General Knowledge
• Islamiyat

After you clear the written test, you would proceed to the Medical examination.

1. Medical Examination

To Join Pakistan Army through PMA Long Course, the candidate has to be medically fit. They should be devoid of diseases like Hepatitis B and C. Usually, height, weight, and essential vital signs are checked.

3. Physical Exam

The candidates must qualify the following physical standards at the time of preliminary selection:

• 6 Km Run - 8 minutes
• Push Ups - 15 repetitions in 2 minutes
• Sit Ups - 20 repetitions in 2 minutes
• Chin Ups - 3 repetitions in 2 minutes  
• Ditch Crossing - 7’.4” x 7’.4” and 4’ deep

1. The Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB)

The selected candidates are then called by ISSB. It is a four day selection test where a candidate’s ability, aptitude, and personality are tested. The ISSB test consists of the following stages:

• Psychological Test

To Join Pakistan Army as a Commissioned Officer, one has to be psychologically sane and should have the ability to take tough decisions. There are three parts of psychological test

• Intelligence Test (Both Verbal and Non-Verbal)
• Personality Test (Written Analytical and Projective Test)
• Mechanical Aptitude Test

• Outdoor Activities

• Group Test

The candidates are divided into groups and are given different activities. They are simultaneously being monitored to assess their personality, teamwork, leadership skills and intelligence.

• Candidate Assessment

The second part of outdoor activities includes personal analysis of the candidate on his ability to overcome obstacles.

1. Interviews

The candidates are interviewed by senior officers on questions related to background, education, life goals, and their opinions on different matters.

After the candidate has completed all the required steps, he is selected and sent to training in PMA.
