What is the difference between Pak Navy Permanent Commission and Short Service Commission?
The permanent Commissioned officer can serve Pak Navy till he retires. Short Service Commission means that they are recruited for a period of 10 years. However, tenure can be extended to 14 years.

Eligibility Criteria:
To become a PN Cadet by Permanent Commission, the criteria is as follows:
- Male and unmarried citizen of Pakistan
- Height should be minimum 5’4’’
The candidate should have passed Matric, FSc or O Levels with at least 60% marks in any of these subjects:
- Physics, Maths and Chemistry
- Physics, Maths and Computer Science
- Physics, Maths and Statistics
- O Level candidates should present their equivalence certificates
- Students yet to give their FSC part II exams would need to present a Hope certificate, signed by the head of their institutions
Age Limit
- For civilian candidates: 16 ½ - 21 years
- For service candidates: 17-23 years (Armed Forces in uniform only)
Selection Procedure of 2020-B Permanent Commission
The candidate will pass through the following stages to assess his capabilities:
- The Entrance Tests
A computer based test would be conducted in the following subjects:
- Intelligence Test
- Academic Test (English, Maths, Physics and General Knowledge)
- Preliminary Medical
After clearing this initial test, the candidates would be called for Preliminary Medical/ Interview and Physical Efficiency Test (PET). The PET Standards are as follows:
- Running for one mile (1.6 km) in 8.30 minutes
- 10 Pushups in 2 minutes
- 10 Situps for 2 minutes
- 2 Chinups for 2 minutes
- Interview
A face to face interview is conducted by Naval Selection Board. The final selection occurs at Naval Headquarters.
Training
PN Cadets are granted Pak Navy Permanent Commission after two years of training. They are awarded one of the following degrees:
- Operations Branch (BIS Maritime Sciences)
- Marine Engineering Branch (BE Mechanical)
- Weapon Engineering Branch (BE Electrical)
- Supply Branch (BS Supply Chain Management)
