0.2 Mln Individuals Trained To Ensure Skilled Manpower In Quake-hit

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th August, 2016) : Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) has trained 200,000 individuals to make up deficiencies of skilled manpower in affected areas. These individuals were imparted training in fields including Masons, Carpenters, Plumbers, Electricians and Steel Fixers. Authority also established 137 Construction Material Hubs to ensure smooth supply and quality of material at stable prices. Highlighting the mechanism adopted for proper re-construction of houses in 2005 earthquake affected areas, official sources on Thursday said damage assessment survey was conducted through assistance & inspection teams which surveyed a total of 611,057 houses.
The reconstruction of houses was carried out under Owner Driven Approach in which the owner was responsible to reconstruct, the sources said and added on basis of Damage Assessment Survey, funds were released. The sources said model houses for vulnerable population were also built and priority inspections were made.
