2500 Cops, Commandos To Guard City On Independence Day

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th August, 2016) : The city police have finalized the security plan to guard the city on Independence Day. Police holiday has also been cancelled to augment security on August 13 and 14 in the city while additional force has been deployed for sensitive areas, along busy roads, markets and picnic points as part of a special security plan for Independence Day.
"The plan will include the participation of 2500 Police Jawans and Commandoes as well as deployment of security checkpoints at the entrances and exits of the city" informed the police spokesman on Thursday. He said, the city has been divided into 11 sectors while 54 special police pickets have been set up at main roads of the city and entry and exit points of the city. He said that police prime responsibility was to protect the lives and property of the pubic.
He said that as many as 2500 police officers and Jawans have been deployed in all the sensitive places including bazaars, shopping malls and parks to maintain law and order situation on Independence Day.
Besides the force, officials of Special Branch, Elite Force Commandoes, Ladies Police, Muhafiz Force and Traffic wardens would perform security duty. The security plan will continue on Aug 13 and 14 under the supervision of City Police Officer (CPO), SPs and DSPs said the spokesman urging the citizens to cooperate with the security forces by informing them about any suspicious situation. City Police Officer Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi has ensured foolproof security for Independence Day functions and said strict action would be taken against those who use fireworks items or doing aerial firing.
All out efforts would be made to avoid any untoward incident on Independence Day, said police spokesman.
