AIOU Arranges Colorful Posters Exhibition

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -2nd Sep,2016) : A colorful posters' exhibition projecting new innovations in field of science and technology was held here at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU).

The exhibition, organized by the Department of Chemistry (Faculty of Sciences) was participated by the students of BS and MSc Chemistry, who showcased their talents and professional skills in projecting the community-related issues, through their research work.

Inaugurating the exhibition, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui advised the students to focus more on society-related issues while carrying out their research-based activities. The AIOU would fulfill its responsibility to provide academic support to relevant institutions to address socio-economic problems.

Reiterating his resolve to make the AIOU as a model one in the field of research, Dr. Siddiqui said, they have published eight research journals during the last one and a half year, besides holding seven national and international conferences to disseminate research findings in different disciplines and motivate young researchers to do more in their respective fields.

He underlined the need of strengthening linkages between research institutions and those who are responsible for implementation. Research is phenomena that do not occur in isolation, it must be linked with the society.

He said, he believed that the Universities should be known for their research work. The students must play pro-active role in constructing and creating knowledge, through research compatible to international standard.

Inculcating critical thinking among students is imperative for bringing them in the mainstream of education. Research should give answer to the questions, faced by policy- makers and other stake holders in the nation-building task, he added. Dean, Sciences, Prof. Dr. Naghmana Rashid was present on the occasion.
