ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st August, 2016) : Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will introduce short-term audio-video-editing training courses from next semester for giving academic support to electronic media. Books and study material have almost been prepared that meet the contemporary needs of the working journalists, this was stated at a briefing held by the university's department of Institute of Education Technology (IET), an AIOU press release said.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui while presiding over the briefing session in this regard, hoped that such training courses would also help strengthen multimedia support to their students.
There will be two separate courses, video editing and audio-recording editing. Director IET Mir Mukhtiar Hussain Talpur said in his briefing that audio-video recording and production of various academic programmes were being enriched for academic use of their students. It was decided that the academic programmes will be telecast and broadcast through the university's Web-TV and FM-radio on regular basis.
The university is also in process of launching its own education channel. The Vice Chancellor advised the department to make the audio-video recording available to the students on their demand. Quality education should be the hallmark of all educational programs, he stressed. While appreciating the department's performance, he assured that the working conditions would be further improved enabling the staff members to deliver the best for students interest.
The AIOU being the media-based university, he said, was needed to focus more on online learning system with smart use of latest technology, particularly the IT software. Therefore, it was decided to provide online teaching of all PhD programmes by the end of this year, while M.Phil online would be started by next year.
Students of the higher classes would get their study material through electronic or digital devices (CDC) instead of in printed form.
