MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jul, 2025) Two hospital employees were apprehended red-handed while stealing the government medicines from Nishtar Hospital, on Saturday.
According to police sources, a sanitary worker assigned to the pharmacy, identified as Adeel, was caught taking government medicines without authorisation. Upon his disclosure, Garbage In-charge Faheem was also taken into custody for his involvement in the theft. Police recovered two cartons of government medicines and initiated legal action against the suspects.
Nishtar Hospital Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Rao Amjad Ali Khan said that strict security protocols had been implemented across the hospital.
He mentioned addition of 120 new CCTV cameras, saying that surveillance had been further strengthened.
"At present, more than 450 cameras are operational throughout the hospital premises,” he said. The MS added that all unauthorised activities were now being closely monitored. A newly established security control room ensures 24 hour monitoring, effectively sealing all loopholes for any wrongdoing,” he said.
Dr Rao Amjad stated that a departmental inquiry committee was conducting investigations to determine if more individuals were involved. “All elements behind the theft will be identified and held accountable,” he concluded.
