Curfew, Protest Strike Continues In IOK

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st August, 2016) : Curfew, strict restrictions and protest strike continued in Srinagar, Pulwama, Kulgam, Islamabad, Shopian, Budgam, Kupwara, Baramulla and Ganderbal districts, on 24th consecutive day, on Monday. Many markets in interior areas of Srinagar and other cities and towns of the Valley opened on Sunday evening a per the programme of Hurriyet leaders who asked people to resume normal activities after 6 p.
m, KMS reported. Despite the restrictions, some private transport was witnessed in many uptown and outskirts areas of Srinagar city and Srinagar-Jammu and Srinagar-Leh highways. Besides APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, Yasin Malik and Shabbir Ahmad Shah continued to remain under illegal detentions in houses and police stations.
They have extended protest shutdown till Friday. Meanwhile, three persons died in two separate mishaps in Kathua district.
