
Electronic Crimes Bill To Be Passed Keeping In Views National Interest: Shahi Syed

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st july,2016) :Chairman of Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication Senator Shahi Syed on Thursday said that Prevention of Electronic Crimes Bill-2016 will be passed keeping in view the country and people's interests. He expressed these view while a chairing a Senate Standing Committee on Information and Technology. "We have received suggestions from various stakeholders and the amendments in the bill will be made keeping in view the country's supreme interest". The chairman's three members constituted sub- committee headed by Osman Saifullah Khan had submitted the recommendations to the committee for consideration. Other members of the committee were Syed Shibli Faraz and Ghous Muhammad Khan Niazi.
The chairman said that these suggestions will be examined in details. He said that the bill will be finalized on July 25 and will be submitted in the Senate on July 26. Senator Karim Ahmed Khawaja said that his bill was submitted much before it should be made part of the record. On his suggestion, the chairman agreed to make the bill part of the record. Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman said that work on the bill was started in 2009 and it was presented in National Assembly after evolving consensuses among all the political parties in the parliament. However, she said, suggestions from the Senate in the bill would be welcomed.
