Ghee, Cooking Oil Production Witness 4.6, 5.4% Increase In Last Year

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -5th Sep,2016) : Domestic production of vegetable ghee and cooking oil during financial year 2015-16, witnessed an increase of 4.46 percent and 5.28 percent respectively as compared to the same period of last financial year.

During the period from July-June, 2015-16, ghee production was recorded at 1.237 million tons as compared to the production of 1.184 million tons of the same period of last year. On month-on-month basis, vegetable ghee production was recorded at 103,395 tons in month of June, 2016 as against 104,948 tons of same month of last financialyear, according the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

Meanwhile, domestic production of cooking oil was recorded at 385,745 tons showing an increase of 5.

28 percent during the period from June-July, 2015-16, as compared to the production of 366,388 tons of same period of year 2014-15.

About 32,183 tons of cooking oil produced in month of June, 2016, as against the production of 32,148 tons of June, 2015, registering an increase of 0.11 percent on month on month basis. During fiscal year, 2015-16, production of tea blended registered an increase of 18.4 percent and about 138,422 tons of tea blended produced as compared to the production of 117,270 tons of same period of last year.

However, during the period under review, production of wheat and grain milling decreased by 3.94 percent as it came down from 6.3 million tons to 5.776 million tons during the period from July-June, 2015-16.
