ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th july, 2016) : Speakers belonging to various walks of life Tuesday paid glowing tribute to late Abdul Sattar Edhi, the country's most respected humanitarian, at a condolence reference organised by the Preston University. The late Edhi's sons Faisal Edhi, Saeed Edhi and nehpaw Ahmed Edhi were the chief guests on the occasion.
Chancellor Preston University Dr. Abdul Basit in his welcome address paid rich tribute to Abdul Sattar Edhi for his contributions for poor section of society. Dr. Ghazanfar Mehdi Chairman Archaeological and Historical Association of Pakistan also spoke on the occasion. The speakers saluted him and said Edhi's name had become synonymous with dedication to serve the humanity.
They said Edhi revolutionised the very concept of social work and charity in Pakistan which influenced many parts of the world. They said Edhi spent a simple life and dedicated every minute of his life to serving others.
His services were for everyone regardless of their faith, ethnicity and class, which was a sharp rebuke to those who divided the society through violence and fear, they added. His revolutionary cradle, said the speakers, had saved thousands of children who would otherwise be killed by their parents. Saeed Edhi and Ahmed Edhi vowed to continue the on-going projects and charity program of late Edhi in the country.
