Governor Lauds NGOs For Serving In Education, Health Sectors

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th August, 2016) : Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, on Monday has said that the non-governmental organizations are providing excellent services, especially in the field of health and education. He said that the people of remote areas in Sindh are also getting essential facilities through these NGOs. He expressed these views while talking to a three-member delegation of Hands, a social welfare organization, which called on him at Governor House here, said a statement. Abdul Ghaffar Billu led the three- member delegation. The Sindh Governor said that health and education facilities are among the basic rights to which every member of the society is entitled, therefore, large allocations is made in every annual budget for protection of these rights. He said that the government will extend every possible support to such projects which will be launched with the coordination and cooperation of the communities in the far-flung areas of Sindh include Tharparkar, Umerkot and other remote districts.
He lauded the establishment of Disaster Risk Management Centres by the Hands in 13 districts of the Sindh and said these centres are providing help to the victims of natural calamities. The Chairman of Hands, Prof.
Abdul Ghaffar Billu briefing the Governor said that the Hands is serving in 31 districts as it has launched 431 public welfare projects in the last 10 years. The Hands has also set up 38 health centres which are being operated under public-private partnership in Gadap and Bin Qasim towns, he said.
He also informed the Governor that a total 1663 schools have also been established by the Hands across the country.
