Court has issued permanent arrest warrants for the PTI leader
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 18th, 2026) A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Saturday declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Ayub Khan a proclaimed offender in connection with the November 26 protest case and issued his permanent arrest warrants.
The case was heard by Judicial Magistrate Shaista Kundi, who passed the order after the PTI leader repeatedly failed to appear before the court despite multiple summons.
In its ruling, the court stated that Omar Ayub had not complied with repeated court notices and had remained absent from the proceedings without appearing before the court. Consequently, he was declared a proclaimed offender, and permanent arrest warrants were issued to secure his appearance.
The case pertains to the November 26 protest, during which Omar Ayub was booked on charges of violating Section 144, along with other provisions of the law. Section 144 prohibits public gatherings and is often imposed by authorities to maintain law and order during sensitive situations.
The court’s latest order marks another legal development in the cases stemming from the November 26 demonstrations, in which several PTI leaders and workers have been facing criminal proceedings.
Earlier in the same case, the court had also issued arrest warrants for Aleema Khan, the sister of former prime minister Imran Khan, as well as two sureties, after they failed to appear before the court during the proceedings.
The prosecution maintains that those nominated in the case violated restrictions imposed under Section 144 and committed other offences during the protest. The accused, however, have yet to respond before the trial court regarding the latest proceedings.
The case has been adjourned until the next hearing, with law enforcement authorities directed to execute the warrants issued against Omar Ayub and produce him before the court in accordance with the law.
