
Kinnow Growers Advised To Drain Out Rain Water From Orchards

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th August, 2016) : Kinnow growers have been advised to drain out rain water from their orchards for quality and maximum yield. Talking to APP here on Monday, Director, Citrus Research Institute Sargodha, Altaf ur Rehman said that citrus growers should visit their orchards to assess the situation after rain, hailstorms and contact to Citrus research centers for guidance. He said that citrus orchards were affected badly due to strong hailstorm last year while it was also occurred during current monsoon season, adding that farmers should visit the Kinnow orchards as it was most necessary to get best produce.
He said that due to hailstorm the branches of tree get dried, adding that pruning was much necessary for the growth of kinnow plants, as most of the time these branches damage the whole plant and it also attract the diseases and pests. He further said that wastes of pruning should also be removed from the orchards as such waste causes virus spread.
