ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th july,2016) : Chairman of his Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has condemned the use of excessive force by India to sabotage the Hurriyet joint march towards Kulgam and said that stopping them from paying tributes to the martyrs is extreme form of oppression and barbarism. According to KMS, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who was detained when he came out of his residence to proceed towards Kulgam speaking to media persons, termed the statement of the Indian military establishment that pellet gun was not a lethal weapon as an attempt to mislead people. He asked what could be more lethal than the weapon that had already made people handicapped, maimed and blinded.
Calling for immediate revocation of black laws like the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and stopping the forces from using lethal weapons against peaceful protestors, Mirwaiz said people should be allowed to express grief and convey their aspirations instead of being subjected to excessive force and military might trampling upon their basic human, democratic, political and religious rights. The Mirwaiz said Kashmir is not a law and order issue but a political one which needs to be solved by granting the right to self-determination to the people.
