KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th August, 2016) : Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the Provincial Government is committed to the protection of all minorities and mindful of their considerable contribution to building and sustaining a prosperous Sindh. In a message issued by CM House on Wednesday the Chief Minister said "Pakistan People's Party remains committed to the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah who believed in safeguarding minorities, we are, in essence, protecting the true spirit of Pakistan.
Our commitment to the rights of minorities has been an integral part of our core priorities." He said, `Non-Muslim Pakistanis have a rich history of tireless efforts for the motherland.
In keeping with the Quaid's edict of religious differences having no space in the affairs of the State, they have time and again proven that many religions, faith, castes and creeds come together to form the basis of the unique mosaic that is Pakistan." From legendary law makers like Justice Alvin Robert Cornelius and Justice Rana Bhagwandas to fearless fighters like Wing Commander Mervyn Middlecoat who laid down his life defending this country, to the countless men and women who serve the nation and its people in many roles, including educators, healthcare professionals and law enforcement personnel, our non-Muslim Pakistanis have only given, and never taken from Pakistan.
" Murad Shah said "it is a fact that we live in extraordinary times, standing at the threshold of what could well be the war against good and evil, right and wrong'.
He added that Pakistan has suffered more than most, in this war. And the irreparable losses suffered by our non-Muslim Pakistanis cannot be fathomed. However, we must not forget that the vast majority of Pakistanis are ready to aggressively fight against bigotry and have been. "I assure the minorities that in this fight, the fight for their rights, their freedoms, their rightful place in society - they are not alone.
For every step forward that they take, we will take two." The Chief Minister said at this juncture in our nation's history, we must strive to develop and maintain interfaith harmony, which is imperative to our peaceful coexistence.
Today, it is more important than ever to look back and hold tight to the words of our Quaid - Pakistan's future depends entirely on our ability to let go of personal differences in beliefs, and work together with unity, faith and discipline.
