PAC Refers Matter Of Rs 200 Mln Overpayment By NHA To DAC

ISLAMABAD,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Augst,2016) : The Sub-Committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Friday referred the matter of overpayment of Rs 200 million to different contractors of National Highway Authority (NHA) on account of price escalation to Departmental Accounts Committee (DAC) for holding an inquiry.
The meeting of the sub-committee held under the chairmanship of Sardar Ashiq Hussain Gopang examined the audit paras pertaining to the NHA. During the meeting, audit officials informed the committee that NHA management paid over Rs 200 million to contractors against the prescribed rules and regulations. Chairman NHA, Shahid Ashraf Tarar informed the committee that the above mentioned amount was paid under the settled criteria of Pakistan Engineering Council. The Committee referred these audit objections and others to the DAC to decide and submit report as soon as possible.
