P&D Chairman Visits PITB Data Center

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th August, 2016) : Punjab Information Technology board (PITB) Chairman Dr Umar Saif has said that the state-of-the-art Data Center, established at the Arfa Software Technology Park would host 3,000 servers, enabling preservation of most of the computerised data of the Punjab government.
He stated this while briefing Chairman of Planning and Development Department Punjab Muhammad Jehanzaib Khan, who visited the PITB. Dr Umar Saif maintained that the new high-tech tier-3 Data Centre was primarily formed for the Punjab government.
"It holds data for Board of Revenue (BoR), Land Record Management Project and other departments. However, the data may also be sold to the public and private sector under certain terms and conditions," he said. He added that it would play a key role in transforming formal working of the government businesses into latest smart and computerized format. The P&D chairman witnessed different parts of the Data Center and appreciated the efforts of Dr Umar Saif and his team for making Punjab a role model for other provinces and countries in the field of technology.
