LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th july, 2016) : Commissioner Punjab Employees Social Security Institute Mansoor Qadir said that PESSI had issued social security cards to more than 7900 brick kiln workers while efforts were being made to issue these cards to the remaining brick-kiln workers at the earliest. Giving details, Commissioner PESSI Mansoor Qadir said that in pursuance of the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, to provide this vulnerable section of the society with health and educational facilities PESSI is providing best medical facilities along with medicines free of cost to brick-kiln workers at their doorsteps.
Mansoor Qadir apprised that under an effective campaign initiated by PESSI, all brick-kilns of the province are being registered along with brick-kiln workers.
He said that in the past, provision of social security facilities to brick-kiln workers and their families through this institute was not possible due to non-availability of CNICs of these workers as most of them did not have CNICs. The PESSI Commissioner said that CNIC was mandatory for issuance of social security card and the Punjab government in collaboration with NADRA Punjab had constituted special mobile teams which have issued CNICs to more than 36000 brick-kiln workers while this process is continuing.
Mansoor Qadir lauded the role of Brick Kiln Owners Association in the implementation of all initiatives of Punjab government to facilitate brick kiln workers and hoped that process of issuance of CNICs to brick-kiln workers will help in issuance of their social security cards.
