'Poultry Fulfilling Major Needs Of Protein'

LAHORE,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Augst,2016) : The white meat is fulfilling 50 per cent poutry needs in the country which is also an inexpensive source of protein as compared to red meat.
This was stated by leader of Pakistan Broiler Farmers Association (PBFA) Rana Abdul Sattar while talking to APP on Thursday. He said 50 percent protein needs of the countrymen was being met by the white meat which had low price and cholestrol free source of protein.
Responding a question, the PBFA leader said poultry contributed six per cent of total 12 per cent share of the livestock in the national Gross Domestic Production (GDP).
About a question, he said cost of one-day-old chick was only Rs 20 per bird but companies were supplying at Rs 45 to 50 per bird to farmers.
He said feed rate was very high and its quality was not up to the mark and added these reasons affected rates of the broiler meat. He said price control committee was doing a good job and it was the only body which controls prices of feed and chicks.
