Punjab Govt Implementing Programme To Provide Shelter To Low Income Segments: CM

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th August, 2016) : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said that Punjab government was implementing a comprehensive programme for the provision of shelter to low-income segments and construction of quality low-cost houses and their provision to low-income families was its priority. He said this during a meeting with a high-level delegation of Housing Development Administration Turkey (TOKI), a world-renowned Turk institution in housing sector in Istanbul on Saturday, says a handout issued here.
Speaking on the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif said that quality houses would be built for low-income families in Punjab with the cooperation of Turkey and the Punjab government would welcome the cooperation of TOKI in this regard.
He said that full benefit would be taken from the experience and expertise of the Turk institution and the programme of construction of low-cost houses would be speedily implemented. He said that during the visit of Turk experts in housing sector to Punjab, construction of low-cost quality houses in Wahdat Colony as a pilot project would also be considered.
The Chief Minister said that housing sector was making rapid progress in Pakistan especially Punjab and there was a vast scope of investment in this sector. Shehbaz Sharif proposed setting up of a joint committee of the Punjab government and TOKI through which Punjab government would benefit from the skill and experience of TOKI and the capacity of the institution concerned would be enhanced.
He said that the meeting with the officials of TOKI had been extremely useful and the Turk institution would extend cooperation to the Punjab government in the construction of low-cost quality houses in future.
The delegation of TOKI while expressing its views appreciated the vision of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding construction of low-cost quality houses and assured full cooperation to the Punjab government in this regard.
It was agreed in the meeting that experts of TOKI will visit Punjab in October and finalize the project of construction of quality low-cost houses for low-income families in the province.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with the heads of investment companies and business houses in Istanbul. Turk investors and businessmen expressed keen interest in investment in various sectors of Pakistan especially Punjab.
The Chief Minister invited them to invest in Pakistan including Punjab and said that it had vast investment opportunities. He said that investment by Turk brethren would be welcomed.
He said that the Punjab government was extending special incentives and facilities to foreign investors. The CM said that Pakistan's economy had substantially improved due to effective measures taken by the government.
He said that energy crisis would be overcome to a large extent by 2017. He said that it was a golden opportunity for Turk investors to benefit from investment opportunities in Pakistan especially Punjab.
Provincial Minister Rana Sanaullah, Members National Assembly Perviaz Malik, Shaista Pervaiz Malik, Kh. Ahmad Hasaan and other members of Pakistani delegation were also present on the occasion.
