Senate Body Asks HEC To Increase Scholarships For Balochistan Students

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Nov, 2016 ) : Senate Functional Committee on Problems of Less Developed Areas Monday asked Higher education Commission (HEC) to increase scholarships for the students of Balochistan province.
The committee met here at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Senator Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar. Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Musakhel, Senator Jahanzeb Jamaldini, Senator Maulana Tanvirul Haq Thanvi, Senator Khalida Parveen and Senator Gianchand attended the meeting.
The committee told the officials to implement the recommendations of establishing new universities in Balochistan.
Earlier, Senior officials of Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms briefed the committee about the implementation status of previous meetings, recommendations and performance in the Less Developed Areas, province-wise, district-wise and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
The committee informed that funds were provided to the provincial government of Balochistan for construction of Mangi Dam and Merani Dam to resolve water shortage issue of Quetta city. The officials informed the committee that construction of 100 small dams have been approved for Balochistan province for purpose of drinking water.
