
Sindh Agricultural University To Pursue Case Of Umerkot Campus

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Oct, 2025) In a significant move to address financial constraints and expedite the development of its Umerkot Campus, the 32nd special meeting of the Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Syndicate on Saturday held a detailed discussion on the campus’s budgetary issues.
The meeting, chaired by Vice Chancellor Engr Prof Dr Altaf Ali Siyal here on Saturday, also deliberated on salary disbursements, and strategies for enhancing financial sustainability, according to the varsity's spokesman.
He informed that the syndicate members had unanimously agreed to seek an extension of the PC-1 for the Umerkot Campus, in addition to approaching the Higher education Commission (HEC) in Islamabad and the Sindh government to secure funding.
He added that the meeting formed a 3-member committee, headed by the VC and comprising Dr AQ Mughal and Imtiaz Qaz, to pursue the matter with the relevant provincial departments.
The spokesman told that the meeting also decided that in the interim the university administration would utilize its available resources to release one month’s salary as a loan for the Umerkot campus.
The syndicate also constituted one more committee of the academicians to examine the structural safety issues of the building and provide recommendations regarding class arrangements and admissions in Umerkot. Dr Jan Muhammad Marri, Dr Pir Ahmed Naqi Shah, Dr Imtiaz Nizamani, Dr Shabana Sartaj Tunio, Dr Agha Mushtiaq, and Mukhtiar Mirjat would comprise the committee.They would also review the academic blocks and classrooms, assess the structural safety to determine whether the facilities were safe for students, and evaluate the classrooms capacity.
