ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Augst,2016) : The Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) would provide the natural gas connections in 14 new localities of two districts of the Balochistan province during the current financial year, official sources in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources said Friday. "The company has planned to supply gas to 14 localities of districts Qila Abdullah and Jaffarabad of the Balochistan province during the financial year 2016-17 under the Pak MDGs (Millennium Development Goals) Community Development Programme," they told APP. Giving details, the sources informed that the company would provide the gas in seven localities of district Qila Abdullah including Enayatullah Karez, Jamali House Rojhan Jamali, Ghareeb Abad Jamali, Usta Mohammad, Manjhi Khan Jamali, Mohabat Shakh, Khair Mohammad Laghari, Jalal Shakh & Dad Mohammad, Nawara Kirthar Shakh and Ghulam Hussain Khosa, besides seven areas of district Jaffarabad including Mohallah H.

Fatah Rind Mohabat Shakh. They said all the gas supply schemes would be completed by June 2017, for which Rs 547.505 million had been allocated. Answering a question, they said the government had imposed a ban on the provision of gas to newly developed areas in the country since April, 2011 due to shortage of the commodity.

However, they said, villages gasification for the gas producing districts was exempted. Replying to another query, the sources informed that the gas was being supplied in different localities under the government guidelines.

"In villages of gas producing district, which are feasible under the per consumer cost criteria and approved by the government, are considered for gasification, while non-feasible are only considered after the funding is received from the government," they said. They said both Sui Southern Gas Company Limited and Sui Northern Gas Company Limited had carried out surveys in their respective areas for providing gas to the villages falling within five radius of the gas fields.

"Accordingly, a summary has been submitted to the Council of Common Interests for consideration," the sources maintained.
