DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Sep, 2026) The Dera police have solved a suspected murder case initially portrayed as suicide and arrested the alleged killer, while two suspects wanted in a separate murder case were also taken into custody, the police said on Tuesday.
Acting on the directives of District Police Officer Ziauddin Ahmed, a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Paroa Raza Khan and Station House Officer (SHO) Rafiq Khan reopened the investigation into a death reported as suicide in the limits of Paroa police station.
A review of the available evidence raised suspicion of foul play, following which suspect Shakeel son of Abdul Rehman, a resident of Chah Khatte Wala Khooh, was interrogated.
The police said Shakeel confessed to the murder during interrogation and, on his identification, a 30-bore pistol allegedly used in the crime was also recovered.
In a separate operation, Bandkorai police arrested two suspects, identified as Raza Muhammad son of Atta Muhammad, and Israr son of Mushtaq, both residents of Ketch. The arrests were made under the supervision of Paharpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Iqbal Khan Baloch and led by Paharpur DSP Pervez Shah.
The police recovered a 30-bore pistol with five rounds, a motorcycle allegedly used in the crime and a Kalashnikov with seven rounds from the suspects. The two men were taken into custody while further investigation was underway.
DPO Ziauddin Ahmed appreciated the police teams for solving the cases and said indiscriminate action against criminal elements would be continued.
