Three reports of Standing Committees presented in Senate

ISLAMABAD,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd july,2016) : As many as three reports of various standing committees including Commerce and National food Security and Research were presented in the Senate on Friday. The reports were presented by Chairman Standing Committee on Commerce Syed Shibli Faraz and Mohsin Laghari on behalf of Chairman Standing Committee on National Food Security and Research Syed Muzafar Hussain Shah in the House. The reports included budgetary allocation and its utilization by the Ministry of Commerce, its allied departments and special report for the period from May 2015 to May 2016 and proposed conversion of 1400 acres land of National Agriculture Research Centre (NARC) by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) into residential/commercial plots.

Speaking in the House, Mohsin Laghari said CDA was misleading the committee on the issue. On one hand, the CDA council in the Apex Court submitted that summery has been forwarded to the Chairman for withdrawal of case while on the other hands, as per the report submitted to the standing committee, CDA has adhered to its earlier stance. He said that there was contradiction in stance of the CDA on the NARC land. Chairman Senate took strong note of the matter and referred it to Committee of the Whole for breaching the privilege of the House.
