ISLAMABAD, Nov 8 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Nov, 2016 ) : The Embassy of Turkmenistan here Tuesday hosted a reception to mark 25th anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan. A large number of guests including diplomatic corps, senior civil and government officials as well as the citizens from all walks of life attended the reception hosted by Ambassador Atadjan Movlamov and Mrs Gozel Movlamov.
Minister of State for education Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman was the chief guest. The national anthems of the two countries were played on the occasion and a cake was cut to celebrate the event. Pakistan and Turkmenistan enjoyed close bilateral ties based upon multi-pronged close cooperation in diverse fields.
Such relations were further cemented with the mega multi-dollar Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan and India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.
The two countries are implementing the project on priority basis as it would generate gigantic economic opportunities in the region and could help Pakistan overcome its energy deficits with the 'Blue gas'.
The present government of Pakistan desires stronger ties with the Central Asian Republics (CARs) including Turkmenistan, rich with abundant energy resources and believes that through greater connectivity, the fruits of shared prosperity could be reaped.
Pakistan also serves as ideal conduit for the CARs as its Gwadar port could cater to the trade needs of Turkmenistan and the other Central Asian countries.
