US Embassy Funded E-Teacher Programme To Be Expanded

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th july, 2016) : The US Embassy is planning to double the size of its E-Teacher programme from 38 teachers to more than 75 in 2017, said Regional English Language Officer Jen MacArthur. Twenty-eight E-Teacher programme alumni from across Pakistan gathered here for focus group discussions, said a press release of the US Embassy on Tuesday.
They also received training to promote and use Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in Pakistan focusing on English language skills. Regional English Language Officer said the workshop offered a valuable opportunity to receive feedback from our previous programme participants.
"I was pleased to hear about our alumni's successes in teaching English from Primary schools to universities all across Pakistan, and I look forward to seeing them use new tools like MOOCs to reach even more students,"he added. Muhammad Rashid, Assistant Professor of English at the Islamabad Model College for Boys also appreciated holding of E-Teacher workshop. Since 2006, the US Embassy has provided full scholarships through the E-Teacher Programme for hundreds of Pakistani teachers to complete eight-week graduate-level English-language teaching courses online through US universities.
