
WASA Directed For Joint Survey To Streamline Sewerage System

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Oct, 2025) Managing Director Water And Sanitation Agency (WASA) Sohail Qadir Cheema has directed officers to start immediate streamlining of sewerage system along Sargodha Road through a comprehensive joint survey.
Chairing a meeting with administrative representatives of Sargodha Road industrial units, he directed to conduct survey jointly with the staff of industrial units situated on the route.
He said that a detailed plan has been devised to desilt and clean roadside drain lines to resolve sewerage problems of adjoining areas on priority basis.
He said that Sargodha Road would be divided into three segments for survey purposes including from Sui Gas offices to Bawa Chak in the first phase, Bawa Chak to Nalka Kohala in the second and Nalka Kohala to Motorway in the third. This survey would help identify problem areas and execute desilting under a unified action plan, he added.
He said that collaborative approach between WASA and industrial stakeholders is imperative to create a sustainable and efficient drainage system.
This will also help in ensuring smooth sewerage flow, preventing urban flooding and improving sanitation conditions across Sargodha Road and its surrounding localities, he added.
He said that damaged drain slabs along the roadside must be repaired immediately and any missing manhole lids should be replaced without delay.
He also directed that all industrial units along Sargodha Road must observe mandatory shutdowns during rainfall to prevent sewer overflow and contamination.
Deputy Managing Director (Services) WASA Muhammad Maqbool Sanpal, Director Operations (West) Makhdoom Babar, Director Drainage Usman Latif and other WASA officers also attended the meeting.
