PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th May, 2026) Pakistan Sports Writers Federation President and Asian Sports Journalists Federation (AIPS ASIA) Secretary General Amjad Aziz Malik said that Pakistan has achieved remarkable success in the field of hockey and the younger generation now needs to step onto the field once again with passion and determination to restore the lost glory of the national game.
He expressed these views while addressing under-30 players participating in the DHA Hockey academy at Manzoor Ul Hassan Hockey Stadium. Renowned Pakistani Olympian Manzoor Ul Hassan Senior and former World Cup player Colonel Saeed Khan were also present on the occasion.
Amjad Aziz Malik received a warm welcome upon his arrival at the stadium and was introduced to the players.
Addressing the young athletes, he said that hockey is a symbol of Pakistan’s identity, national pride, and glorious traditions.
He emphasized that it is the responsibility of the younger generation to bring Pakistan back to prominence in world hockey through hard work, discipline, and patriotic spirit.
Referring to Pakistan’s historic achievements in hockey, he said that the country had raised the national flag high across the world by winning Olympic titles, World Cups, Champions Trophy, and Asian Games championships.
Legendary hockey players of Pakistan illuminated the country’s name globally through their outstanding performances.
Amjad Aziz Malik urged the young players to focus not only on sports but also on education, discipline, fitness, and positive character building.
He said that these very youngsters would one day represent the national team and uphold Pakistan’s green crescent flag at the international level.
In this regard, he cited the example of the DHA Academy and described it as a significant development in the country’s sporting history.
He further stated that success is achieved not merely through talent, but through continuous hard work, sacrifice, and determination.
He encouraged the young players to believe in their dreams and move forward with national spirit so that Pakistan could once again regain its lost glory in world hockey.
Amjad Aziz Malik also paid rich tribute to Manzoor Ul Hassan Senior, who is currently serving as the head coach of the Pakistan Hockey Federation. On the occasion, he presented the latest edition of the AIPS Asia magazine to the Olympian.
