ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -3rd Sep,2016) : The education experts while lauding the efforts of Higher Education Commission (HEC) for recent reforms in technology education, said that the country should be well prepared to take full advantage of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CEPC) by producing technologists.
They were of the view that a sufficient number of local technologists and technicians equipped with modern skills must be available to execute the projects under the program. The experts were speaking at the passing out ceremony the first batch of Bachelors of Technology (B-Tech) Honors program at school of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) of Isra University here.
"A batch of over 40 students have completed their Technology Education, the graduates are trained to meet the current and future needs of skills market especially related to power projects and other CPEC projects," said Director of SEAS, Mustafa Minhas while addressing the students.
He said these graduates have good opportunity to take full advantage of CPEC projects for their own benefit and for serving the country. He lauded the efforts of HEC for prioritizing the technology education which he said would take the country to new heights of progress and development.
Speaking on the occasion, Head of the Department of Electronic Department SEAS, Dr.
Tanweer Ahmed Cheema expressed the hope that entry of the pioneer students into the market would bring positive changes.
He said that this pioneer batch would lead the technology market with their innovative ideas and skills and serve the nation in a better way. He congratulated the passing out students of B-Tech on successfully completing their degree program.
He said a degree is not just a piece of paper, rather it is a recognition of hard work and commitment and manifestation of the desire to make the future brighter. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Director of SEAS, Tayyab H.
Malik said that Isra University is offering the best B-Tech program in the country. He stressed on the need of competitive and employable workforce that must have both knowledge and skills that are relevant, current and according to the requirements of the employers.
He appreciated the establishment of National Technology Council (NTC) by Government of Pakistan for the improvement of Technology Education. He expressed the hope that SEAS would soon leave behind the Indian Institute of Technology.
He was of the view that Pakistan was lagging behind in technology education; however with the efforts of government and HEC initiatives and private sector collaboration this sector has witnessed tremendous growth.
