Asad, Noor Zaman Enter Into Abdul Sattar Edhi Memorial Junior Squash Semi-finals

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th july,2016) : Top seed Asad Ullah and second seed Noor Zaman entered into the semi-finals of the Abdul Sattar Edhi Memorial Junior Squash Championship being played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Wednesday. Former World Champion in Squash Qamar Zaman was the chief guest on this occasion who witnessed the quarter-final matches of Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15 categories.
Good players are coming up at grassroots level and that is why due concentration have been given to organizing Junior Age Groups Tournament with the aim to provide much needed competitive exposure to the youngsters. In the first quarter-final of the Under-13 category top seed Asad Ullah defeated Ghulam Mohmand in straight sets.
Asad Ullah fully dominated the proceedings and did not allow Ghulam Mohmand to strike back. Ghulam Mohmand did some resistance in the three sets battle lasted for 41 minutes which clearly evident from the score 12-10, 11-9 and 11-10.
Asad Ullah did not look behind right from the outset of the match and marched into victory at 3-0. It was the second quarter-final in which second seed Noor Zaman defeated Shoaib Asghar in straight sets, the score was 12-10, 11-7 and 11-8.
Noor Zaman fully dominated the proceedings and did not give much room to Shoaib Asghar to maneuver. Noor Zaman played superb squash with some beautiful cross-court smashes and perfect nick shorts. In the third quarter-final Waleed Khalil recorded 3-0 victory against Talha Iqbal to move to the semi-finals and now he will face Fahad Sharif in the second semi-final.
The score was 11-9, 11-5 and 11-8 while Fahad Sharif beat Abdullah by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 12-10 and 11-7. In the Under-15 top seed Uzair Shoukat, Hamza Sharif, Ahmad Hassan and Rashid Doulat took berth into semi-final after recording victories against their respective rivals in the quarter-finals.
Uzair Shoukat, a promising player, faced tough resistance against Saqib Iqbal in the four sets battle, the score was 11-9, 12-10, 11-8 and 11-9. Hamza Sharif beat Zargham Khan by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 11-7 and 11-5, Ahmad Hassain beat Khushal Riaz by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 11-7 and 11-9 and Rashid Doulat beat Mavia Hussain by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 11-6 and 11-8. In the Under-11 category top seed Muhammad Ammad beat Raheem Abbas in straight sets, the score was 11-8, 11-4 and 11-8 and moved to the semi-final while Yaseen Khattak shocked Humam Ahmad by 3-0, the score was 12-10, 11-9 and 11-9.
Both Yaseen and Humam gave each tough time in a thrilling match. Promising Ibrahim Mohib outclassed M. Hanif by 3-0 in another one-sided affairs, the score was 11-5, 11-6 and 11-5. Ibrahim fully dominated the match and did not give much time to Hanif to come back into the match. In the last quarter-final Abbas Nawaz beat Shiraz Akbar by 3-1, the score was 5-11, 12-10, 11-8 and 11-9.
