Cricket Is To Be Added In 2024 Olympics

Lahore, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st july, 2016) : Cricket has bright chances to be added in Olympic and if Rome will win the bid, cricket will be the part of the forthcoming Olympic. Rome is one of the cities bidding to host the Olympics in 2024 along with Paris, Los Angeles and Budapest and will have the chance to add five sports to the games.

Simone Gambino, president of the Federazione Cricket Italiana (FCI) told while talking to ESPN cricinfo,"if Rome hosts the Olympics, cricket will be included." He added that they have very firm assurance from the organizing committee.

It is expected that cricket would be held in Bologna if Rome will host the games. The city hosted matches of World Cricket League Division Four in 2010 and however the availability of sod pitches may be a concern but there is plenty of time to resolve it till the bid.

There would certainly be a maximum number of 16 teams provoked to take part, even if there is a prospect of just 12, with Olympic regulations. It could well be that some well-known cricket nations - notably England, who are part of the UK in Olympic terms - miss out.
