BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th july,2016) - Ross Taylor and BJ Watling added an unbroken stand of 100 as New Zealand built a sizeable first-innings lead over Zimbabwe on the third morning of the first Test at Queens sports Club on Saturday. Taylor moved from his overnight score of 38 to 87 not out, while Watling breezed to an unbeaten 50 as New Zealand went to lunch on 423 for five, giving them an overall lead of 259.
The Black Caps lost nightwatchman Ish Sodhi in the second over of the day as they resumed on 315 for four, but that simply allowed Taylor and Watling to form a productive alliance. The pair took their time to get used to the slow pace of the wicket early on, but opened up in the second hour of the day when they added 65 runs in 17 overs. Zimbabwe were bowled out for 164 on the opening day of the Test, when left-arm seamer Neil Wagner recorded career-best figures of 6 for 41.
