Hudur A Win 2nd WAPDA Polo Tournament

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Nov, 2016 ) : Hudur A won the second WAPDA Polo Tournament by defeating Thak A with 8-6 goals in the final match of the event, played here at Chillas, the headquarter of Diamer district in Gilgit Baltistan.

According to a press release issued here on Tuesday, WAPDA organised this 8-day tournament as part of its corporate social responsibility under the auspices of its Diamer Basha Dam Organisation, as Polo is considered to be one of the most popular sports of Gilgit-Baltistan.

As many as 16 teams belonging to Diamer district participated in the event.

Gilgit Baltistan Minister for Tourism and Women Development Sobia Jabeen Muqaddam was the chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony of the tournament.

The minister witnessed the final match and gave away trophies and cash prizes to the winners and runners up. Diamer Basha Dam General Manager Muhammad Nawaz Butt and Diamer Basha Dam Project Director Sultan Nadeem Akram were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, the minister appreciated WAPDA for holding the tournament to patronage the popular sport of Gilgit Baltistan in the far flung area of Diamer district.
