Indoor Games Kick Off In NPC

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Nov, 2016 ) : The Indoor Games kicked off here at the National Press Club on Friday. A Snooker tournament will be played in the first phase while table tennis will be played in the second phase, said a press release issued here.

As many as 32 players are participating in the snooker tournament. Deputy Mayor Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation Ch. Riffat Javed and Islamabad Billiard and Snooker Association (IBSA) senior vice president Rana Salim Akthar were chief guest at the opening ceremony of the snooker event.

NPC Secretary Imran Yaqoob, Secretary NPC sports Committee Abid Abbasi and other members were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Mayor Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation Ch.

Riffat Javed praised NPC for holding such events for its members. "We will provide all type of assistance for journalists as we take them as our own part," he said. IBSA senior vice president Rana Salim Akthar said he is happy to see the game of snooker getting encouragement in NPC.

He also offered the members to get training from IBSA head coach Irshad Qureshi. He said from this city we got players like Shahram Changezi and Babar Masih who have made the country proud in the game of snooker. "I urge media to promote snooker as other games too," he said. APP/vad/rn
