RIO DE JANEIRO,(APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Augst,2016) - Strong medal hopes Britain saw their hopes of a podium in the men's 4x400m relay go up in smoke on Friday after a botched handover. Martyn Rooney produced a cracking last lap to win their heat, but the quartet was later disqualified.
Belgium, comprising Julien Watrin and the Borlee brothers Jonathan, Dylan and Kevin were accredited with the win. Also going through were the Bahamas, Cuba and, to the host nation's delight, Brazil. The Jamaican quartet of Rusheen McDonald, Peter Matthews, Nathon Allen, who ran an outstanding third leg in 43.52sec, and Javon Francis won the first heat ahead of their US rivals. Completing the final line up on Saturday will be Botswana and Poland.
